Campground Owner/Director

Carmen has twenty-nine years of experience working with the public sector and has always embraced opportunities in both work and play. Some of Carmen’s strengths are around her ability to assess, pursue innovative opportunities like Elevated Experience Camping at Willey West Campground that achieves exceptional outcomes through being passionate about camping and improving the hospitality and tourism industry . Regarding her loyal and committed employees, she resourcefully leverages strengths and diverse learning opportunities to maintain strong, productive, and satisfied employee preservation.

Throughout her years, she has developed solid communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written and is highly motivated to excel in all work environments. Her years of working with the public have enabled her to deal with all situations with professional tact and courtesy towards both colleagues and clientele. In January 2020, Carmen changed career paths and started Elevated Experience Camping operating Willey West Campground. Within 3 years of operation the campground has excelled in occupancy, customer satisfaction and has become a well known destination for many campers in Central Alberta. With over 1100 google reviews (top 3 in Alberta) and an overall rating of 4.8, Carmen has shown that entrepreneurship is in her veins.

Carmen has spent many hours proactively building networks, and building trusting relationships with stakeholders and colleagues to continually support new initiatives, activities and services to meet the desires of her campers, maintain an exceptional well executed campground and continue to be a family friendly top destination. Currently Carmen has a partnership with Beehive Support Services to employ individuals with disabilities. They help support the snack shack at the day use area and creating sno-cones for those hot summer days.

Carmen prides herself in creating memories and experiences for her guests and campers. To even support the non-camper, the vacationer or the get-away weekend person/couple/family, she created uniquely specific to Elevated Experience Camping Glamping sites that feel more like a hotel experience while falling in love with the outdoors again.

Carmen can’t wait to celebrate 5 years of serving campers and guests as Elevated Experience Camping is celebrating its 5 Year Anniversary in 2024. Stay tuned for Special Events throughout the Camping Season.

Melody

Camp Administration

Melody has been working at Elevated Experience Camping since 2022. Melody’s current role is administrative support. She has camped with her family since she was a child. Melody is married and has three kids and loves taking them camping with her when she goes, but instead of camping in a tent like she used to, she now prefers glamping!

William

Maintenance Manager

My name is Will and I have overseen Maintenance at Elevated Experience Camping since 2021. As you can see I am a huge Oilers fan and enjoying going to the home games in the off season. I have several years experience with outdoor maintenance primarily as Superintendents of golf courses but I enjoy the challenge of lending my knowledge and skills to Elevated Experience Camping to give campers and guests the best possible experience by maintaining and enhancing the campgrounds beauty.

Chelsea Burns

Maintenance Supervisor

I started working at Elevated Experience campground during the 2023 season, and before that, i used to camp there with my family for years and fell in love with it. Between the seclusion of the forest, all the trails, wildlife, and amazing river views its a place you’ll want to come back to. I love working outdoors and getting to make a memorable experience for everyone who comes to enjoy getting away from their busy lives. I’m definitely looking forward to the 2024 season, and I can’t wait to see you all there.

Kelsey Wells

Office & Foods Supervisor

I have a degree in addiction and community health care. I love animals and nature, and am dedicated to Elevating campers’ experiences at the campground.
